Transport for Social Outcomes
Much better value can be achieved in the transport spending to tackle social need. This was one of the messages from DHC Director Derek Halden in his presentation at the CPP Seminars event, Transport for Social Outcomes – From Policy to Practice (PDF, 1.3 MB). Top down planning of transport infrastructure and services needs to be accompanied by bottom up planning of access for individuals to services to overcome the current ‘free for all’ that is far from free and costs public agencies over £200 million per year.
